A Break Even Month Is Not That Bad Anymore

Posted by sharkpool under Rakeback, Gambling, Poker

As a full time poker player, one of my biggest concerns earlier in my carrier was

How do I handle a break even month?

I was really afraid of how this would affect my ability to pay my bills without nagging on my bankroll.

Nowadays, a break even month is not that much of a concern, as I still get paid enough to cover my bills and MORE. You should know why by know, because I told you in the last post.

A lot of players that I’ve been talking to, had prior talking to me, some strange perception that only the highstake players could get rakeback, they couldn’t be more wrong! If you have had the same believe that rakeback was only something for “they”, now you know that’s not the case and that you shouldn’t play one more hand without rakeback .

Let me give you an example of what you can make by just playing break even poker:

Stake: 1$/2$
Tables: 4
Hours 8
Rakeback: 25%

You will receive just by playing:

Daily rakeback $56
Weekly rakeback $389
Monthly rakeback $1724

You will receive an amazing $1724 extra just by playing!

Is’nt that amazing?

Get Rakeback NOW

I sure think it is and that extra money pays a lot of bills!

So, that is why my break even month is not that bad anymore.

Best regards
/Daniel

How To Increase Your Poker Income Substantially

Posted by sharkpool under Rakeback, Gambling, Poker

Rakeback

I want to tell you about a friend of mine named Tom, he’s been playing poker for about 3 years and he’s been very successful in the mid-stakes games, making a lot of money the past 2 years.

As a full time poker player, Tom has been focusing very much on his game of course, to improve as a player. But what he recently discovered was that he had been leaving a lot of money on the table by being lazy and not following up on the latest in the poker world!

Not very good at all, we figured that he’s been losing close to $50K the last 2 years that way!!!

When I told him that I’ve been raking in an extra +2K every month just by playing poker, he did not believe me at first. I must say I was very surprised that a full time player like Tom didn’t have a clue about this very easy way of making money just by playing poker.

Nevertheless, I showed him immediately how he could also do like me and rake in some very nice extra cash every month, from exactly the same place I receive the money.

Now, I must tell you that Tom got over the double of my money the first month because he plays a lot more hours than me and a couple of more tables also by the way. Tom received over 4K in extra cash the first month, that is money he had been missing out on for 2 whole years!!!

Don’t you go and do the same, do like Tom and me, get the extra cash you deserve by demanding it from the pokerroom of your choice

Bankroll Management

Posted by sharkpool under Gambling, Bankroll Management, Poker

Dollar bills  What is the most common reason to why players fail as a poker pro?

I’m not 100% sure but I’ve got a feeling that going broke due to poor money management is the by far the most common reason. This is not anything we want to talk about, naturally. It would make us look as bad poker players or even worse a total failure, scary! If you are a solid winning player and tend to go broke any way, you are probably not executing proper bankroll management and I think this is the most common reason to why players go broke. I have been broke from poker more than once, because I really had no idea about bankroll management and the discipline demanded by a poker pro.

Handling the swings of this game can be very tough. Imagine that you’ve been playing poker for 3 month’s, you have been running pretty good and playing your best poker. Not only did you make very good money during these months but you climbed the stake ladder a few steps and life is great. All of the sudden the cards don’t fall in your favour for 14 days and you are getting one bad beat after the other. You get frustrated and make a few bad plays during tilt, this takes even more of your winnings (Everyone makes bad plays and tilt at some point, just learn to recognise when you are doing it and stop playing). The losing sessions eats 30% of you bankroll and now you don’t have enough money to play at the stake that you’ve reached during your good run.

How do you handle this?

You are now in a situation where, if you’re going to continue to execute proper bankroll management you have to move down in stakes! You have no choice, that’s just a fact; otherwise you are risking your whole poker carrier.

If you have been in this situation before, you know it is not as easy as it sounds to move down in stakes. First you have to deal with the fact that you have lost a lot of money, second is the feeling of moving down in stakes. To still be able to play good poker and not being able to earn as much money as you might have planned at the higher stakes, is also a hard thing to deal with.

A compulsive gambler would stay at the same stakes, or even move up to win back losses. Even if he makes back his losses and manages to hang around as a poker player for a while longer, he will probably go broke somewhere in the near future if he doesn’t change his beahaviour.

I don’t know how you handle this but I can tell you my strategy to a long term poker carrier.

1. I don’t always push my bankroll to the limit!  That means even if my bankroll is big enough for a certain level doesn’t mean I can’t play at lower stakes. With my way of living I can easily make enough at NL100(.5/1). It can be very profitable to play at lower stakes where I’m are a huge favourite at the table and it does not affect my mood as much when an occasional bad beat comes along.

2. I often move down in stakes to ensure myself that I can, because it’s easier said than done. This is something I’ve learned the hard way.

3. I keep a 40 buy in rule, that means I want at least 40 buy in’s for the stake I play. This does not mean I never take shots at higher stakes but in a disciplined kind of approach.  If poker is supposed to put food on the table I think 40 buy in’s makes up a good healthy bankroll.

4. Recognise tilt and stop playing when on tilt is something that I do nowadays. Instead of tilting away 3 buy ins with bad plays I now stop after one . . . LOL

A good way of looking at the income part of poker might be: If I know that my average is $200 a session/day on NL100(.5/1), my salary for that day is $200 no matter how the day turns out. By looking at poker this way, you are having a more long term approach and you’ll probably sleep better to.

What I’m trying to do is to find a systematic and long term way of looking at it. Poker is NOT short term for a pro and shall not be viewed as such!   I also have a note where everything to consider before beginning a session is written on, it serves as a reminder of the rules I need to have.

These are a few of the methods I use to handle the swings and the sometimes difficult proffession poker.
